Theater Review: That Wacky Anton Chekhov
12.12.11
Funny ha-ha or funny sob-sob. Florida home to 'major polluters'
16.11.11
Within the last two months, the EPA included Eager Beaver Trailers and six other Florida sites on the Facility Watch List, which names "high-priority violators" of the Clean Air Act whose violations have gone unresolved for more than 270 days. The Florida Center for Investigative Reporting, in partnership with the Washington, D. C. -based Center for Public Integrity, is disclosing for the first time the air polluters in the Sunshine State that have most concerned federal regulators. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection fined Eager Beaver Trailers $17,181 for its violation, and the company has since resolved the problem. These sites were included on the EPA Watch List in July or September for having unresolved violations. Eager Beaver Trailers isn't the type of company you'd expect to be a major air polluter. I haven't really done any serious shopping for the past few seasons, but this year, I'm really excited about some of the fall fashions. That, and I think my taste has changed a bit over the past few years, from a little twee and ruffly to a little more modern and edgy. Most of the photos here are taken by me, by when they aren't, I do my best to credit those photos to their rightful owners (when the source is available). Late summer into fall is easily my favorite time of the year, when balmy August nights start to give way to cool September evenings. I can trade in my flip flops and sundresses for ballet flats and long-sleeved silky tops, and generally don't have to worry about being a sweaty mess by the time we walk to our destination. If you do use one of my designs/layouts, just give me proper link credit and we'll be friends....

Alternative Energy Cars of the Future and 2 Ways to Play It
27.06.11
For years and years, when an oil developer drilled a well that produced both oil and natural gas, he sold the oil and flared the gas. Petroleum has always had significant advantages in energy density and ease of transport and storage over the other fossil fuels - coal and natural gas. Starting in the 1970s, this comparative advantage, as well as certain important geological considerations and geopolitical developments, led oil to command a premium price over the other fossil fuels. For a time, the above advantages enabled petroleum to sweep the market and capture important parts of the space heating and electric generation markets. In a sense, because petroleum is the "best" of the fossil fuels, it was the one to be used up first. Read the rest of this entry »
